Blind Cleaning by Brighter Blinds Ottawa

Brighter Blinds will remove 100% of natural contaminants from many of your household items. Not many jobs are as onerous as cleaning your own blinds. The problem is, frequent dusting actually builds static attracting even more dust. When cleaning with a damp cloth, dirt is carried from one slat to the next. Immersing in a bathtub or using a garden hose can cause permanent damage, and it's not any simpler with drapery. Most custom-made drapery should only be professionally cleaned but a trip to the dry cleaners can be disastrous. Fabrics tumbled in huge commercial machines lose their shape, or worse, come out damaged or shrunk. Protect your investment and get longer life out of your quality window coverings, by using the Ultrasonic Blind Cleaning method.

In our process, we use a large stainless steel tank that is divided into two chambers; one is for cleaning and one is for rinsing. The chambers hold approximately 55 gallons of water, which is temperature controlled. Transducer packs are immersed in the water and are powered by a generator, which creates sound waves. The Sound waves cause billions of bubbles to implode, thus causing 'Cavitation'. This causes gentle, but highly effective agitation, which penetrates the smallest crevice and lifts the dirt free from your blinds. Only ultrasonic cleaning removes 100% of all contaminants, including the dirt and dust in the cords, ladders, controls and head rails. Your blinds emerge looking like the day you installed them. Hunter Douglas approves this method for any of their aluminum blinds, faux woods and most verticals.
Since not all window covering styles are suited to being immersed in a tank of warm water, but still need to be cleaned, Brighter Blinds offers On-Site cleaning. Our portable drapery cleaning unit uses an Injection/Extraction technique, using either heated water or a dry cleaning solution, depending upon the fabric. Our on-Site Cleaning process cleans your draperies and valances where they hang, and most dry within a couple of hours.
Brighter Blinds is proud to have qualified for the following accreditations and Certifications that include Fabricare Specialist, Hunter Douglas Professional Installers, Shade-O-Matic Shutter Installers, Ultrasonic Blind Cleaning Technicians and certified On-Site Cleaning Technicians.

Dinner is Served in Ottawa

Let’s look at the obvious. By the time you get to Dinner in Ottawa, or anywhere else, you have managed a whole day, fed yourself numerous times already, solved problems, been given new problems, made money, spent money, cried, laughed or wished you had, negotiated traffic, negotiated life, fought, loved, sweat and managed to survived to this point. As nature kicks-in, it comes to you in the sound of a growl from your mid-section accompanied by a tank-empty feeling and slight ruffling of anxiety on the edge of your sanity. What you are experiencing is low blood sugar, and although you knew it was coming, somehow it got lost in all of the pressing details and demands of surviving the day…again!

Have no fear because at Stone Face Dolly’s in the heart of Little Italy Ottawa, there is flavour, atmosphere, variety and sustenance of the best kind. With an eclectic menu of scrumptious main entrées, original appetizers and delicious desserts you and your family and your friends will find the gastronomic satisfaction that you need.

“Dolly’s” quietly opened at the corner of Bronson and Beech Streets in the mid 1990’s. Business was slow and the original owner would sit after lunch with her mother, Dolly, and play cards to pass the time away. Dolly, as it turns out, was an exceptional card player. This was at least partly due to what her daughter referred to as Dolly’s poker or “stoneface”. The nickname stuck and Stoneface Dolly’s was purchased in 1999. Dolly’s evolved from a single diner into two unpretentious café’s serving home-style gourmet food with an international twist - the type of food you might serve guests at a dinner party. Stoneface Dolly’s is a casual and affordable restaurant catering to a local neighbourhood clientele of all ages. In the heart of Little Italy Ottawa, find us at 416 Preston Street, Ottawa, Ontario, K1S 4M9 or 613 564-2222

Process Server Washington DC

In civil court matters, a process server is someone who serves or delivers legal documents, like subpoenas, summonses, court orders, legal notices and writs. They fall into several categories including Private detectives and investigators, Sworn peace officers like Sheriffs, Marshals and Constables and Non registered or licensed individuals like Friends and relatives. But, by far the most reliable and ready are  Registered or licensed Process Servers.

In most states they are registered by their county, whereas in California a process server can serve papers in any county. Other states only allow process servers to serve papers in the county in which he or she is registered. Most counties require process servers to be bonded or insured.  Equally, the best Servers also provide the service of Skip Tracing or Skiptracing or Skip-tracing, which is an informal definition that is used to describe the process of locating an individual's whereabouts.  Using modern technology to retrieve private and public information, when cross-referenced with state departmental information, it is possible to find accurate, up-to-date information on individuals or any entity.

Employing a non-professional Process Server has inherent shortcomings.  They do not understand all of the laws and processes involved in Serving. Also, they may not know how to fill out a proper proof of service, which could jeopardize the legality of your case. Either of these can cause a service to be declared invalid and possibly cause you to lose the case or at the least force you to start over. Additionally many people attempt to evade service and professionals have a better chance of completing service. Finally, process serving can be very dangerous. Many people get very angry when served and attempt to take it out on the process server with their fists, feet, knives, vehicles or clubs.
At one time, Sheriffs, Marshals and Constables were considered good choices for serving papers, however that is not the case any more. Marshals no longer serve papers and many Sheriffs and Constables are too busy with other matters that papers may sit for weeks or months. And, obviously, people can see you coming in a uniform and squad car from miles away, giving the Servee time to elude and escape.

You might think that Licensed private detectives and investigators make the best servers, but not all of them serve papers and many believe that they should charge more than registered process servers. Some investigators Serve so seldom, that they make a mountain out of a molehill and turn Service into an investigation in order to run up billable hours. There are good one’s out there, but will need to spend some valuable time sifting separating the wheat from the chaff.

Licensed investigators, on the other hand, are professional full-time Servers who are dedicated to their profession. Obtaining a license is not easy, so there is a commitment and background check required for every Server. If they are caught committing perjury by saying they Served when they did not, or if they bill a client for work that was not completed, they can lose their license. If they lose their license they lose their business and cannot get the license reinstated.

Opera Lyra Ottawa

Opera Lyra Ottawa is a not for profit organization with the mandate to produce and present opera productions and music in Ottawa. It is in the National Capital Region and promotes opera as an art form, making it accessible to as large a segment of the population as possible through community outreach and education. The company began in 1984 and has grown into one of the largest independent arts organizations in the National Capital region. One music critic suggests that most opera plots boil down to a soprano and tenor wanting to hook up but being prevented from doing so by the baritone! While that’s not always the case, the theme of unrequited love does turn up in opera frequently. Most of all though, the stories of opera are the human stories of love, loss, triumph and hope.

Ballet and opera were born in 17th-century Italy and France. They were spectacular events which celebrated marriages, special occasions, royal visits or as a mark of wealth. They were also fraudulent vehicles of propaganda, which were aimed at impressing foreign dignitaries and other royals. They combined music, dance, and magnificence into processions with awe inspiring technical effects and extravagant costumes. The stories or themes were taken from classical mythology of the Greeks and Romans, and drew parallels between the governing royals and the mythological gods or heroes. The expenditure on vast sums of money on lavish, ephemeral spectacles was not uncommon in 16th and 17th century Europe.

Their purpose was to impress visiting dignitaries and present a positive image of a ruler and his court. They included vast processions, dances, song and acted interludes. Like today, all actors were sumptuously costumed and transported with elaborate coaches and chariots. Equally, the stage effects were contrived using ropes, pulleys and counterweights that moved clouds or helped gods descend in their chariots. Eventually, ballet and opera evolved from these early events.

Jonathan Estabrooks has been hailed by the New York Times as ‘a robust baritone’, and winner of the prestigious 35th Oratorio Society of New York Vocal Competition. He is a Canadian singer who continues to make a unique and rich contribution to the performing arts world. His vocalism and performance style have been called “commanding, rich, fresh and energetic”, even likened to a young Ron Howard. Upcoming performances include Artist in Residence at the Conductors Retreat in Medowmak, his debut as Silvio in I Pagliacci with Opera Lyra Ottawa, “Broadway Sensations” Gala at Alice Tully Hall and concerts in Virginia and Tennessee. And Opera Lyra is happy to have him back in Ottawa.

Ottawa Salon Your True Colors

Ottawa Salon “Your True Colors” explains a few things about hair. What the stylist is doing when you go to the salon for highlights is called a ‘two-process color’. When you are dealing with very dark shades of hair as you might find on individuals of Latin, Asian, Middle Eastern and African descent, is that it is necessary to pre-lighten the hair in order to get a good color result. This is especially true if the desired color is more than just a shade or two lighter than the natural color. The second stage of the ‘two-process color service’ is the “toner stage’. This just means that the stylist will then apply a color to give the pre-lightened hair the desired shade. You can use most any permanent color formulation in the toner stage as long as it is the desired color. There ARE color products that are called “toners” which are deposit-only colors and are designed to be translucent to allow the natural variation of the hair’s natural color to come through. Of course, there are color formulas that aren’t listed as “toners” that are also translucent formulas for the same reason. The multiple uses of terms like “toner” are one of the more confusing aspects of what we do. So, in short, almost any haircolor can be a toner if it is used in a two-process color service to give the final color result, these may or may not be considered “toners” based on their formulation. There are specific toner formulas designed to create a gentle shift in color results, such as adding a strawberry blonde tint to naturally blonde hair, or an auburn tone to a neutral brown shade, or to shift the color from a brassy shade to something more natural. These products may be used during the “toner stage” of a “two-process” color service.
Scientists may have figured out why hair turns gray, and their finding may open the door to new anti-graying strategies. New research shows that hair turns gray as a result of a chemical chain reaction that causes hair to bleach itself from the inside out. The process starts when there is a dip in levels of an enzyme called catalase. That catalase shortfall means that the hydrogen peroxide that naturally occurs in hair can't be broken down. So hydrogen peroxide builds up in the hair, and because other enzymes that would repair hydrogen peroxide's damage are also in short supply, the hair goes gray. Putting the brakes on that chemical chain reaction "could have great implications in the hair graying scenario in humans.

Ottawa MMA N1Thai

MMA Ottawa: Man has the ability to be the most unpredictable, vicious animal in the jungle, which is why man against man contests have always been the true test of human endurance. And that is unlikely to change until Jurassic Park, 28 Days Later, Alien or Predator come to fruition.

There are many fine schools focused on Martial Arts in Ottawa. You can see the students standing in rows, repeating physical actions and silently mouthing mantras. Each element is important in the process of turning physical reactions into second nature actions. But your body only represents half of the “machine.” It is your quick mind, creativity and looseness of being that will allow you to connect to the power within, guide the process and prevail over your opponents. If not, then it would always be the biggest man that would always win and we would all be performing competitive needlepoint. Not unlike Luke, it is important to learn to understand and guide the force within. And that is what distinguishes N1Thai from all others; inner calm, outer control and stamina.

Since that first big North American MMA fight in Denver in 1993, Mixed Martial Arts has grown into a force of its own. The truth is that connecting with our primal selves is something that will not be weeded out us of this week, this year or this century. Meanwhile, we have the stress of the 21st Century moving us forward at the speed of fiber optics, the endlessly changing face of the civilizations and the general wear and tear of living within the elements. Like the Rolling Stones album says, you gotta “Get Yer Ya-Yas Out!”
